An Acorn crochet pattern is a free crochet granny square pattern by Nana’s Crafty Home!
This autumn-inspired and charming acorn crochet pattern features a textured brown cap, which captures the essence of a real acorn’s ruggedness. Sitting atop the cap, a dainty stem and a lively green leaf give it an unmistakable woodland vibe.
This adorable acorn sports a pair of cheeky black eyes and blushing pink cheeks, adding a dash of whimsy to the design.
This design marries the charm of nature with a touch of playful creativity. This nature-inspired granny square would make a fun wall hanging or pillow.

The center of my Acorn square is slightly changed from my previous designs. I am still working rounds of double crochet stitches but with the addition of popcorn stitches to create some textured bumps for the acorn’s cap.
If you haven’t worked popcorn stitches before I have a video tutorial that will help you with the basics of this stitch. The video was intended to show how to change colors for the popcorn but should be helpful in showing you how to crochet a popcorn stitch. You can check out that tutorial on YouTube.
The acorn’s stem, leaf, cap, cheeks and eyes are all crocheted separately and then sewn to the top of the square. I did play around a little bit with the cheek size. I ended up going with the small cheek size but if you prefer you could make one round of dc stitches instead for larger cheeks as shown below.
My acorn crochet pattern and Fall Blanket use Red Heart Super Saver* which is a medium worsted weight acrylic yarn. Very economical and with plentiful color options!
