Happy Crochet Sunflower Square for Your Fall-Themed Blanket Details
The crochet sunflower square is part of the Fall Squares Blanket and is the first release of the series. If you missed the post with all the release dates and details about the blanket you can head on over to that blog post for all the information you will need to make your own Fall themed blanket!
All of these squares begin as a double crochet circle. The circle is then squared off for easy joining. For the crochet Sunflower Square I reworked my Sun Granny Square in sunflower colors and then added an easy leaf design for the corners.
The last couple of rounds of the double crochet circle are worked in the back loops only. This will leave an unused front loop in which the shell stitch petals are crocheted on to at the end.
The simple and easy leaves for the crochet sunflower square are made with just one round working from a foundation chain. The great thing about this leaf pattern is you can take it to so many different projects! I am working on a quick tutorial on how to make them and hoping it will be ready to release tomorrow. You will also be making this same leaf for the Fall Flower Square.
My Fall Blanket uses Red Heart Super Saver* which is a medium worsted weight acrylic yarn. Very economical and with plentiful color options! You can certainly substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn – Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn!, Red Heart With Love, Paintbox Simply Aran, Vanna’s Choice, Big Twist Value, Caron Simply Soft, Caron One Pound and so many more! Raid your yarn stash – even mix and match to get your favorite fall colors!
