Crochet Pumpkin Square Pattern Details

The crochet pumpkin square is part of the Fall Squares Blanket and is the second square in the series.  If you missed the post with all the release dates and details about the blanket you can head on over to that blog post for all the information you will need to make your own Fall themed blanket!

The first release was the Sunflower Square and you can find that free pattern on the blog.

Of all the squares in my blankets, the pumpkin crochet pattern is the only square that deviates from the base pattern.  Only slightly – but definitely a bit different from the previous designs.

Once the base square is complete you will make a fun curly-q vine, pumpkin stem, eyes and cheeks and then make a leaf – the same leaf pattern I used for the sunflower design.

The pumpkin’s smile is made with a surface slip stitch which I have used for several of my previous designs and you can check out a short video I put together of my Gingerbread Man Square on Instagram.

My Fall Blanket uses Red Heart Super Saver* which is a medium worsted weight acrylic yarn.  Very economical and with plentiful color options! You can certainly substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn – Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn!, Red Heart With Love, Paintbox Simply Aran, Vanna’s Choice, Big Twist Value, Caron Simply Soft, Caron One Pound and so many more!  Raid your yarn stash – even mix and match to get your favorite fall colors!

The next square in the Fall Squares Blanket series is the Turkey Square coming on Friday 10/06 so be sure to check back for that.
