This Reindeer Crochet Pattern is a free Christmas granny square pattern by Nana’s Crafty Home!
I am working on a series of large Christmas granny squares and this Reindeer Crochet Pattern is the second in my series. You can also check out the Snowman Granny square, Gingerbread Man Granny Square, Penguin Granny Square, Polar Bear Granny Square, Elf Granny Square, Santa Granny Square, Mrs. Claus Square and the Peppermint Candy Man Square which are also free crochet patterns on the blog.
I so love reindeer! In fact, for many years I have been collecting unique reindeer Christmas decorations to display on my tree or throughout my home each year. They will even stay out on my fireplace mantle long after the Christmas season is over. Reindeer aren’t just for Christmas you know – at least not in my house! I have the same attitude about snowman decor, too 😉
Reindeer Crochet Pattern details
My granny square Reindeer crochet pattern is the perfect match to my Reindeer Hot Pad as well as my Reindeer Treat Cup – both are free crochet patterns on the blog. I also have a Christmas Ponytail crochet pattern set that includes a reindeer option! You could really reindeer up your life with all of these patterns this year. And, just a heads up – another new reindeer pattern will be heading its way to the blog soon just in time for your Christmas crocheting!
The granny squares for this series of patterns work up to a large 14″ square. Perfect for pillows or to mix-and-match for an adorable winter Christmas-themed throw! These squares would also make wonderful wall hangings for Christmas decoration.
I still haven’t decided just how many squares will end up in my final project. Currently working on square #5 – I am so excited for you to see them! I can’t decide which one is my favorite 😂.
This crochet reindeer pattern starts out as a circle using double crochet stitches and then the circle is squared off so you can easily join and sew squares together.
I am using Red Heart With Love* yarn which is a medium weight #4 worsted weight acrylic yarn. One of my favorite economical yarns to use. However, change it up to your favorite. This pattern is a great way to use up your stash, too!
