This Crochet Christmas Tree pattern is a free crochet pattern by Nana’s Crafty Home.
I love texture and these Bobble Crochet Christmas Trees have texture for days!
So much fun to make and they work up very quickly in super bulky yarn. I love the pops of color created by changing up your yarn color for the popcorn stitches, too.
Since I love designing Christmas decor, I recently released the Crochet Christmas Tree Stand which is a beginner friendly crochet pattern with single crochet stitches throughout. I added embellishments and embroidery to up the wow factor.
However, I wanted to design a tree that didn’t need any “extras” and stood out all on their own. These bobble crochet Christmas trees definitely did that for me!
Bobble Crochet Christmas Tree Design Details
These crochet trees are worked in the round from the bottom up in continuous seamless rounds. No sewing needed except for the very top of the tree!
The bobbles are created by crocheting double crochet popcorn stitches with single crochet stitches worked between to really make them stand out.
I used Lion Brand’s Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn* which is a super bulky weight #6. Such a great wool blend yarn that is really soft. I used a main color for the main body of the tree with a contrasting color for the popcorn stitches. These trees would look great in a solid color as well.

Instructions are provided for two sizes and made with the super bulky yarn yielded an approximate finished size of 5” wide x 6” tall for the small and 8” wide x 9” tall for the large tree.
I have the complete video tutorial available here for the Bobble Christmas Tree or you can also find it on YouTube. I show you how to make the tree with worsted weight yarn and the small tree instructions which ends up being the perfect size for a Christmas Tree ornament! Just leave a long tail after sewing the top of your tree closed to make the loop and hang your ornament. Or, use a piece of rustic twine like I did for mine in the photo above. The finished size for my ornament was 3 1/2″ wide x 3 1/2″ tall. And, you are using such small amounts of yarn – perfect for your scraps!
