Crochet Thanksgiving Gnome Set Pattern Details

I have been promising crochet Pilgrim gnome towel topper patterns forever it seems!  But of course I waited until the very last minute this year to get these out but I promise you still have time to make them.  And since they are made with colors most everyone will have in their stash no need to head to the yarn store for this one.

If you are familiar with all of my other crochet towel toppers you know that they all feature a hidden 3″ ring* which allows the towel to be removable for easy washing.  I purchase my rings from Amazon* but you can substitute with inexpensive plastic shower rings, wood rings or even elastic hair ties.  All have been used successfully by other makers.

There wasn’t a big need to reinvent the wheel with my Pilgrim Gnome. He is essentially a remake of my Patriotic Gnome Towel Topper.  I simply changed out the colors, made his hat band a little wider and reworked the buckle from my Leprechaun Gnome to make the buckle a bit larger.

Pilgrim Girl Gnome Towel Topper free crochet pattern

I did start from scratch on my Girl Pilgrim.  I wanted a shape similar to my original basic Gnome Towel Topper worked in the same number of rows as the boy pilgrim so they would be the same size. So if you are someone who prefers to not work in the round, you could change up the colors to Christmas colors, eliminate the braids and you have a brand new way of crocheting a basic Christmas gnome towel topper!

I added hat trim to the front to go over her nose and of course she needed braids!  I have a complete tutorial for how to make braids for her if you need some help with that step.

I didn’t add any additional embellishments but I think if you added small leaves to their hats it would be absolutely adorable!

I used Red Heart With Love* yarn for my crochet pilgrim gnomes which is a medium weight #4 acrylic worsted weight yarn.  This pattern is a great way to use up your stash, too! I really love the tan color I used for the buckle and the braids – it has a gold brown look to it that turned out perfect!

I typically like to buy a fun kitchen towel to go with my toppers but to keep in the spirit of the pilgrim theme I went with plain white flour sack towels since that is what I had on hand.  I think if you could find a towel to match the hat color you are using that would look fantastic as well.

I loves these towel toppers! I made your Christmas gnome pattern for a friend who has loved gnomes, way before they were popular. I made them in the color she loves and decorates with.
With your table missing a vital family member, I hope you and all who gather around your table feel her presence. She will be with you in spirit. May you and your family enjoy your time together. May God bless you and your family!
