Crochet Easter Chick Square pattern details

I am working this crochet chick pattern from the same base pattern as my Christmas crochet granny squares.  All of the squares in this series work up to a large 14″ square.  Perfect for pillows or to mix-and-match for an adorable Easter spring themed throw!  These individual squares would also make wonderful wall hangings for your spring themed home decor.

This baby chick square is very easy!  The main body of the chick is worked in double crochet rounds with yellow yarn and is then squared off with pink for easy joining.

This chick square is embellished with cute little chick feet, wings, eyes, beak and head feathers that are all worked separately and then sewn to the right side of the square.

The chick’s head feathers are just adorable and really very easy!  Made with a slip stitch fringe that is folded together and then sewn to the top of the chick’s head is a fun addition!

I am using Red Heart With Love* yarn for my squares.  Red Heart With Love yarn is a medium weight #4 acrylic worsted weight yarn.  These granny squares would be a great way to use up your stash, too!
