An adorable Mushroom Crochet Gnome Towel Topper is a free crochet pattern by Nana’s Crafty Home!

After releasing the Gnome for Summer C2C Throw earlier this summer featuring a mushroom gnome home, I realized that I had neglected to design a Mushroom Gnome Towel Topper even though it has been on my to-do list for several years!

This summer Mushroom crochet gnome towel topper joins my many other gnome themed towel toppers already on the blog – the original Christmas Gnome, Leprechaun Gnome, Patriotic Gnome, Viking Gnome, Pilgrim Gnomes as well as the Spring Girl Gnome with braids! What a fun group!

This mushroom crochet gnome towel topper would make a whimsical addition to your summer kitchen decor. I know he brings a smile to my face each time I see him!

Mushroom crochet Gnome Towel Topper pattern Details

This quick and easy towel holder starts with two identical single crochet half circles sewn together to create a mushroom cap shape. While crocheting the final row of the back panel you will work 5 stitches over a plastic craft ring.

The mushroom spots are simply small rounds of single crochet that are sewn to the top of the front panel before sewing the panels together.

The 3″ craft ring is hidden inside the mushroom where you will hang the towel. This allows the towel to be removable for easy washing.

A hanging tab is sewn to the top of the mushroom to allow the mushroom crochet gnome towel topper to hang from your kitchen cabinet, drawer or stove.

This towel topper is so versatile, too! Skip adding the gnome nose for a mushroom cap towel topper. I also found these adorable butterfly buttons at Joann’s that would add a special and unique summer touch! Add braids to make a girl mushroom cap version to match. Raid your stash for different mushroom colors – so many things you could do to add a personalized touch to this crochet mushroom towel topper.

Mushroom gnome & girl gnome towel topper pattern set

I used Red Heart Super Saver* yarn for my gnome mushroom crochet pattern.  Red Heart Super Saver yarn is a medium weight #4 acrylic worsted weight yarn. But, you could certainly use any yarn you have on hand – a fantastic project for scraps!

I have many towel topper patterns that utilize a hidden 3″ ring* which allows the towel to be removable for washing.  I purchase my rings from Amazon* but you can substitute with inexpensive plastic shower rings, wood rings or even elastic hair ties.  All have been used successfully by other makers.
