The Gnome for Christmas C2C (Corner to Corner) Blanket is a free crochet pattern that will be released as a Christmas in July Crochet a Long Event at Nana’s Crafty Home!
Do you love gnomes as much as I do? I must admit that I might be slightly addicted to them! ?. We have a wooden bridge that goes over a small creek in our back yard. When we moved here my husband placed a gnome under the bridge and we told the kids we had to ask the gnome for permission to cross. For quite a while the kids would go to run across the bridge and then suddenly stop to ask the gnome for permission to cross…..so cute! So now you could say that gnomes are a “thing” for me. ?. Great memories!
I have been wanting to design something gnome themed for quite a while now and I felt that a Christmas Blanket Crochet a Long was the perfect thing!
I really enjoyed the first Crochet a Long I hosted on the blog — the Easter C2C Blanket. It was a lot of fun to design and I really enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful creations and variations of each square!
What is a Crochet a Long? A Crochet a Long is basically a group of people working on the same project at the same time and at the same pace with parts of the pattern being released over a specific time frame. However, if you come across this project later you can absolutely work on this blanket any time as the pattern will remain free on the blog!

I really wanted this blanket to be a complete Christmas scene rather than individual squares that tied together in a theme. I really wanted those gnomes to come to life! I am hoping you enjoy this blanket as much as I do!
I tried to make each panel a “stand alone” square so that they could be used for other projects — wall hanging, pillows, etc. I think several of these panels could be multi-purposed or make one of the panels into a matching pillow for your blanket as well.
For the yarn I used Paintbox Simply Aran from Love Crafts. This was my first experience with this yarn and I am so pleased with the results — beautifully soft and the colors are so bright and vibrant! Thank you to Love Crafts for yarn support for this project!
