NOTE ABOUT RESIZING BLANKET TO LARGER SIZES:

You can find more details about resizing your blanket HERE.

With a stitch sampler style blanket there can be some difficult in providing stitch multiples to resize. Not every stitch repeat provided for the different stitches are divisible by the starting chain – not even the 120! I am providing the stitch multiples to hit several of the more difficult stitches as well as the largest number of stitches. The most important thing is to make sure each row ends with the right amount of stitches for the size you are making. Some of the stitches (like the popcorn row) you may have to “fudge” slightly at the end. This will not effect the overall look of your blanket. For the Extreme Drop Section, if you change the end of your row count (after the repeat) change the beginning of your next row to match that count. For the Extreme Drop Section, if you change the end of your row count (after the repeat) change the beginning of your next row to match that count. So, for example row 42: dc in last 8 st and your row ends with dc in last 7. For row 43 subtract 1 stitch from the beginning of the row before ch 1.

Special stitches:

Popcorn (pc):  4 dc st in same st, drop loop from hook, insert hook into top of 1st dc made, place dropped loop on hook and pull loop through st.  When changing colors at the end of the pc, pull new color yarn through loop to finish st.

Extreme Drop Stitch:

  1. (working in ch sp 1 row below) yo, insert hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same ch sp, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook),
  2. (working in next ch sp 2 rows below) yo, insert hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same ch sp, pull up a loop (9 loops on hook),
  3. (working in next ch sp 3 rows below) yo, insert hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same ch sp, pull up a loop (13 loops on hook),
  4. (working in next ch sp 2 rows below) yo, insert hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same ch sp, pull up a loop (17 loops on hook),
  5. (working in next ch sp 1 row below) yo, insert hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same ch sp, pull up a loop (21 loops on hook).
  6. Yo, pull through all loops, ch 1.

Spike Stitch:

  • SP-2: Insert hook below sc from 2 rows below your hook (current row counts as row 1), yo, draw up a loop even with the loop on your hook (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 2 loops on hook.
  • SP-3:  Insert hook below sc from 3 rows below (current row counts as row 1), yo, draw up a loop even with the loop on your hook (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 2 loops on hook.
  • SP-4: Insert hook below sc from 4 rows below (current row counts as row 1), yo, draw up a loop even with the loop on your hook (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 2 loops on hook.

Row 39:  Carry color A, working with Color C, ch 3, dc in next 3 st, *with color A, pc in the next st, with color C dc in next 4 st,* repeat between * * to last 5 st, with color C dc in last 5 st.  Turn.

Row 40:  With Color F, ch 3, dc in each st to end.  Turn.

Extreme Drop Stitch Section Rows 41 – 58:

Note:

  • In this section you will NOT skip a stitch after the ch 1 — work your next dc in the very next st.
  • You will always skip the ch 1 sp from the previous row — working your dc in the next st after the ch 1 sp from the previous row.
  • If you are working a larger size of the blanket for the Extreme Drop Section, if you change the end of your row count (after the repeat) change the beginning of your next row to match that count. So, for example row 42: dc in last 8 st and your row ends with dc in last 7. For row 43 subtract 1 stitch from the beginning of the row before ch 1.
