I love stitch sampler crochet blanket patterns and I am so excited to announce the Autumn Rhapsody Blanket a free crochet pattern at Nana’s Crafty Home!
The Autumn Rhapsody Blanket design was born out of my love for stitch samplers and all things Fall! If you have been following Nana’s Crafty Home you may have read about my design journey which started with another stitch sampler blanket designed by SpitSpot Crochet. If not, you can read all about it HERE.
The pattern for the Autumn Rhapsody Blanket will be released in 4 parts as a Crochet a Long. What is a Crochet a Long? A Crochet a Long is basically a group of people working on the same project at the same time and at the same pace with parts of the pattern being released over a specific time frame. However, if you come across this project later you can absolutely work on this blanket any time as the pattern will remain free on the blog!
Check out the video at the bottom of the post to see the complete blanket!
This is the third pattern I have hosted as a Crochet a Long at Nana’s Crafty Home! If you would like to check out the previous two you can find them here —
Easter C2C Blanket – 9 stand alone Easter themed C2C squares from cute chicks to a beautiful Cross.
Gnome for Christmas C2C Blanket – 6 C2C panels with a cute Christmas Gnome scene!
The Autumn Rhapsody Blanket is going to be a bit more challenging with more complicated stitches throughout. However, I will have complete photo and video tutorials for the stitches for extra help.
I must admit that I am completely in love with this blanket! The Fall colors provided by Paintbox Yarn Cotton Aran are just perfect for this theme. If you would like to make your blanket in the same yarn and colors as mine you can find it on LoveCrafts HERE. You will need 3 packs of the 10 ball Color Pack called Fallen Leaves in Cotton Aran. The Cotton yarn comes in small balls of just 1.7 oz so if you decide to go with the Acrylic Simply Aran yarn the balls have 3.5 oz so you will need a lot less in the Simply Aran. The individual colors are listed below in the supply list.
I chose cotton for mine for the fantastic stitch definition since my blanket will be more for show. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with the softness of the Cotton Aran yarn. This blanket would also make a fantastic scrap and stash buster as well!
I wanted to create a blanket design that would be cohesive and balanced even though it would still be classified as a stitch sampler. Most stitch samplers are truly that — every few rows a new color and a new stitch throughout.
Even though the Autumn Rhapsody Blanket has many different stitches throughout I wanted to make sure the stitches would balance throughout the blanket even repeating a couple of the stitches to provide the balance I was looking for.

The Sunflower Stitch and the Mum Stitch are the flower stitches on either end of the blanket. I designed these stitches specifically for this blanket. In fact, I designed this blanket around the idea of the Sunflower Stitch! When this design started to come to life in my head the only stitch I knew that had to be in it was this one! The trick was making the design work and I am really happy with how they turned out!
