I was inspired to make these little ornaments because I have so much fuzzy fun fur like yarns in my house. It was the same reason I made the Shabby Chic Fur Tree yarn craft earlier as well.

I wanted to use the basic idea behind the Mum Flower Crochet Stitch I originally designed as part of the Autumn Rhapsody Blanket. This is such a great stitch for using fuzzier yarns because you basically make a round crochet base and then work your fuzzy yarn into the front and back loops of the base. That way you are never working the fuzzy yarn into itself – so much easier!

This is the perfect project to raid your scrap basket for, too! I used a medium weight cotton yarn as the round base of the ornament but you can use anything you have on hand. I had a couple of balls of yarn of a fuzzy, loopy boucle yarn by Needle Crafters I picked up at an estate sale a couple of years ago with a very girly color way. Unfortunately, I don’t think the company is even in business today as I couldn’t find additional information about them. However, I think any “eyelash” style fur yarn would be a great choice for this project! Lion Brand Fun Fur* would be a great option.
