The Heart C2C Hat is a free crochet pattern for a super adorable hat using the corner to corner (C2C) technique!
This is the matching companion to the Heart C2C Scarf pattern that is also a free pattern on the website.
I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn!* for my pattern and I am so glad I did — economical yet still soft and with lovely muted colors — grey and pink are one of my favorite color combinations!

I have been looking for an opportunity to design a hat using the C2C technique. If you are not familiar with the C2C (corner to corner) crochet technique use the link below to go to my tutorial.

I wanted the design to be easy to resize the hat to any desired size. So, I am working the hat as a rectangle and then sewing the ends together at the end. In this way, you can measure the bottom edge of your work to see when to stop increasing the bottom edge.
If you are making the hat for yourself (or someone you can measure), measure around the head at the forehead. If your hat is tight, it will pull your C2C “boxes” apart which would not be a good fit. This measurement will be used to measure the bottom edge of your hat. When you have reached the row that matches your measurement, stop increasing and begin “closing” your rectangle.
If you are making the hat for someone else you can use the cheat sheet below to help you.
Adult Large: 23″
Adult Medium: 22″
Adult Small: 20 to 21″
Child: 19 to 20″
Child Small: 18 to 19″

Hat is tall to make it more slouchy, however if you desire a shorter beanie style, you could easily make it shorter by not adding as many rows up.
