These crochet scarecrow patterns will add a touch of fall whimsy to your kitchen!
These delightful characters add a fun whimsical touch to any kitchen or bathroom and they will bring a lot of character to your fall decor all season long. The girl scarecrow features bright orange braids, rosy pink cheeks, and a daisy-adorned hat that perfectly complements her floral-themed towel. Her friendly smile is sure to bring joy! The boy scarecrow sports a cozy green hat accented with a small yellow flower, a rustic bow tie, and a sweet lovable expression.
These free crochet scarecrow patterns are perfect projects for fall fun. The towel toppers are designed with a button closure, making them easy to attach and remove from any towel rod, stove or drawer handle. The combination of playful crochet details and soft, textured towels makes these scarecrows a functional addition to your seasonal decor or a thoughtful gift for someone special.
These adorable Scarecrow Towel Toppers are modeled after the squares I designed for my Fall Granny Square Blanket last year. I knew they would make such sweet towel toppers and I am so happy with how they turned out!

How to Make these Crochet Scarecrow Patterns
For the full written pattern instructions for this set of Scarecrow Towel Toppers scroll down below. The ad-free PDFs are available for both the Scarecrow and Girl Scarecrow Towel Toppers in my shop as a set. The ad-free PDF is also available for FREE to my Lifetime Members as well!
1. Both of these crochet towel toppers are made from two single crochet panels which are worked as a perfect round circle, then sewn together at the end.
2. The Girl Scarecrow face is worked in the single crochet tapestry color work technique. Half the circle made in yellow and half in tan for her face. I decided to drop and fasten off colors rather than carrying and working over the unused yarn. A few more ends to weave in but in this small project not a big deal.
3. I also made a set of braids for the girl scarecrow which are sewn above her face. The hat brim is made separately and then sewn over the braids. I have a complete photo and video tutorial for how to make the braids. The hat brim sports fringe for a straw hat appearance!

4. The Boy Scarecrow has several stitches of the first round of his hat that are worked in the back loop and then his hat brim is worked into the unused front loop. His hat also uses single crochet tapestry color work.
5. The hat crown and neck piece are both crocheted separately and then sewn to the front panel at the end.

6. The back panels for these scarecrow towel toppers are also made as a perfect round circle with the addition of a 3″ craft ring which is crocheted into the panels by working several single crochet stitches over the ring to secure it. The ring will be inside the two panels once they are crocheted together which allows the towel to hang from it and be easily removable for washing.

7. Once the face details are added the panels are then crocheted together with the craft ring in between the two panels using a simple stitch. Or you could also choose to seam them together with a long length of yarn as well.

I hope you love making these Scarecrow Towel Toppers!

I used Red Heart Super Saver* yarn for my scarecrow crochet towel topper patterns. Red Heart Super Saver yarn is a medium weight #4 acrylic worsted weight yarn. But, you could certainly use any yarn you have on hand – a fantastic project for scraps!
I have many towel topper patterns that utilize a hidden 3″ ring* which allows the towel to be removable for washing. I purchase my rings from Amazon* but you can substitute with inexpensive plastic shower rings, wood rings or even elastic hair ties. All have been used successfully by other makers.
You will also need black plastic safety eyes for both towel toppers plus a 3/4″ button for the hanging tab which are sewn on to the tab. I also added a cute flower button embellishment to the corner of their hats that I already had in my stash. Completely optional but I think it adds a sweet touch!
You can also purchase the ad-free PDF of the crochet Scarecrow Patterns for a small fee. You can purchase the individual patterns as a set, or if you love PDFs, you might want to check out my Lifetime Membership. It’s an awesome deal! Never pay for one of my PDFs again!!
