If you’ve been looking for a lacy crochet scarf pattern that is as easy to make as it is beautiful to wear, I have a feeling you’re going to fall head over heels for the Lavender Garden C2C Scarf. I certainly did!
This pretty scarf came together from a single cake of Caron Cotton Cakes in Lavender Fields — and honestly, the moment I pulled that skein out of the bag, I knew exactly what it wanted to become. Those soft, dreamy transitions of lavender, sage green, creamy white, and warm taupe just screamed “garden party scarf” to me. The self-striping nature of the yarn does all the color work for you, making this one of the most satisfying projects I’ve crocheted in a long time.

What I love most about this pattern is how it takes a classic corner-to-corner (C2C) technique and gives it a lacy, open twist. Every other row features a row of skipped blocks, which creates that beautiful airy lattice you can see in the photos. It looks intricate, but I promise — if you can work a basic double crochet C2C, you can absolutely make this scarf. I’d rate it as an Easy pattern, making it a wonderful next step for anyone who has learned the standard C2C and is ready for a little something special.
This lacy crochet scarf pattern works up into a generous triangle shape — 50 inches wide across the long edge and 38.5 inches tall — so you can drape it, wrap it, tie it, and style it so many different ways. I’ve been loving it loosely draped over a blazer for those in-between spring days when you want a little something extra without overheating.

I love Yarnspirations Caron Cotton Cakes* (available exclusively at Michael’s stores) – one of my favorite go-to yarns for several years now. And this crochet scarf only uses one cake! I also have several more designs using this self-striping, #4 medium weight cotton/acrylic blend – the Boho Market Bag, Gathering Rosebuds Bag, Sea Shells by the Sea Shore Bag & the Retro Duster Vest. This cotton blend yarn makes a light and breathable fabric with lovely drape. A must for warmer weather!
You can easily substitute your favorite medium worsted weight yarn for this scarf. If using a smaller or larger weight yarn you can follow the pattern and just add or subtract rows as necessary to reach desired finished size.
This crochet c2c scarf pattern lends itself really well to a self-striping yarn. And using a self-striping yarn really takes all the “work” out of color work!

This scarf is completely customizable to size – just stop when you reach the size desired. One cake of the Caron Cotton Cakes yielded me a scarf with an approximate finished size of 50” x 38.5” x 60”. That’s a wing span of 60″ – perfect size for a wrap around neck scarf.
I didn’t add any special edging, fringe or tassels. I really didn’t want to weigh the scarf down with any extras. However, that is completely up to you – I think large tassels on each end would look amazing – or even just one tassel at the center point of the triangle.
Working this stitch pattern yields an asymmetrical shape instead of a traditional triangle. Due to the fact that you are working a row of “empty” blocks, your scarf ends up gaining more height over width. So, if you want to adapt this stitch pattern to make a blanket (which would be fantastic by the way!), just take that into account. If you begin decreasing on both ends at the same time you will end up with a rectangle shape – not a square. If you want a square shape, begin decreasing first on the taller end, then continue increasing width until it measures the same as the height. Continue decreasing to end.
