This crochet bag pattern works up quickly with the fun modern stacked granny stitch and self-striping  yarn for color work ease.

Reusable crochet cotton market bags are so popular – and for a very good reason! These handmade cotton crochet bags are perfect to take to the market and they wash up so easily for reuse. Great for the environment as well as stylish and fun.

Since I made my Duster Vest pattern and first used the Caron Cotton cakes* I have become obsessed with them and couldn’t wait to design another pattern for them.

Caron Cotton Cakes are a self-striping medium #4 weight cotton/acrylic blend. These cakes became very popular a few years ago and every year I try to design a new pattern with them. One of my favorite yarns to work with for bags and light weight scarves. I love them so much that I still have some of the original small cakes that are discontinued. Yup, I’m a yarn hoarder. 😉

This market crochet bag pattern uses just one cake of the new cakes which makes it even better – a one cake wonder!

It is a very quick pattern to work up so you get to finished product in just a few hours. This would be a great traveling project for those of us who take our crochet with us everywhere we go.

This bag is big enough to take to the market but not so big you can’t use it as a purse if you choose to line it.  It would also make a great craft bag or WIP bag!  Looks great with more yarn peeping out of it.

My 10 year old granddaughter saw the finished bag and declared that she must have one as well so I have the Kid-sized version now available as a free pattern as well.
