The Luxe Boho Christmas Stocking is a free crochet pattern at Nana’s Crafty Home!
This crochet stocking is so much fun with cute tassel edging and it works up quickly with bulky yarn so you have plenty of time to make one for everyone this year!
This stocking features the Linked Double Crochet (LDC) Stitch. The LDC stitch is a simple variation of the double crochet stitch which creates a more dense fabric without gaps – perfect for stockings. Notes about pattern:
- Main body of stocking is worked in continuous rounds without joining. Initial 3 sc in MC do not count as stitches – they provide lift to LDC of 1st round.
- Heel is worked in rows, folded and seamed to stocking.
- Mark 1st stitch of each round with stitch marker and move up each round.
- Stocking is worked from the toe up worked in sections: toe, instep, heel, ankle and cuff.
- Stocking can be worked in 1 solid color or use a coordinating 2nd color for the toe, heel & cuff.
Pattern Instructions
Toe
With Color A, make a MC.
Rnd 1: (RS) ch 1, 3 sc in MC (do not count as stitches), 1 dc in MC (place stitch marker – 1st stitch of round), 7 LDC in MC, 1 LDC in 3 sc st from beginning of round. Do not sl st join. (11)
Rnd 2: 2 LDC in each st around (move up st marker to 1st st of each round). (22)
Rnd 3: *2 LDC in next st, 1 LDC in next st,* repeat between * * to end. (33)
Rnd 4: 1 LDC in each st. (33)
Rnd 5: With Color A repeat round 4. (33)
Fasten off Color A
Instep
Rnd 6 – 14: With Color B repeat round 4. (33)
Fasten off Color B
Note: Place stitch marker in last st of round 14. This will mark where to attach yarn for round 15 when you start the ankle instructions.
Heel
Note: You will now be working in turned rows across half of your stocking. Once heel is crocheted, you will fasten off to seam and create heel.
Row 1: With Color A, ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next 15 st. Turn. Note: Leave remaining stitches unworked. (16)
Row 2: ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in each st to last 2 st, sc2tog. Turn. (14)
Row 3 – 8: repeat row 2 (st count = 2 at end of row 8). Turn.
Row 9: ch 1, 1 sc in each st. Turn. (2)
Row 10: ch 1, 2 sc in each st. Turn. (4)
Row 11 – 16: ch 1, 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (6) (st count = 16 at end of row 16).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fold flap together, whip st ends of rows 9 – 16 to ends of rows 1 – 8.
Ankle
Note: rounds will resume from instep.
Rnd 15: Attach Color B to stitch marker placed in last st of round 14 of instep, 1 sc in next 2 st, 1 dc in next st (1st st of round), 1 LDC evenly around to 2 sc sts from beginning of round, 1 LDC in each sc st. (36) Note: You will have a total of 33 stitches to work in and you will work 3 additional LDC in this round. Work 1 stitch at the beginning and 2 on the front side of the stocking where the heel and instep meet. This will eliminate gaps and give us the correct number of stitches before moving on to the remainder of the stocking.
Rnd 16 – 28: 1 LDC in each st. (36)
Cuff
Rnd 1: sc in 1st st, fasten off Color B, with Color A, turn, ch 1, working in BLO, 1 sc in same st and in each st around (place st marker in 1st st). (36)
Rnd 2 – 4: working in both loops, 1 sc in each st. (36)
Rnd 5: *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next st, sk 2 st,* repeat between * * around to end, sl st to 1st st.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Loop
With Color A, ch 13, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Form a loop and sew to top corner edge of stocking. Weave in remaining ends.
Tassels
For each tassel, with Color A, cut 2 pieces of yarn 4” in length & cut 1 8” piece of yarn.
Pull 2 pieces of 4” length of yarn strands through ch 2 sp from last round of cuff, wrap 8” strand around 4” strands, knot & cut to finish. Repeat for each ch 2 sp of cuff. Trim tassel to size desired.
