A crochet cross blanket makes an heirloom baby blanket for the little one in your life!
A crochet baby blanket that is textured and cozy featuring the gorgeous popcorn stitch! This beautiful baby blanket features a center cross made with a repetitive and easy to memorize stitch pattern!
This crochet baby blanket features a striking design resembling Maltese cross motif. The pattern alternates between two colors creating a visually engaging contrast. The peach sections have a textured, raised popcorn stitch pattern, while the gray sections are worked in a basic double crochet stitch.
This baby crochet blanket may seem complicated at first glance but we are using basic stitches throughout – double crochet, chains and single crochet stitches! The magic comes from the contrasting color work!
A true Maltese Cross is four v-shaped elements that come together in the center to form a cross. However, the cross design is very evident and I think it makes a perfectly lovely heirloom baby blanket!
The blanket is worked from the center outward, forming a square shape. The border consists of a simple but elegant scalloped edge, adding a delicate finishing touch.
The blanket is modern yet cozy, making it perfect for a baby’s nursery. The mix of texture and color enhances both visual appeal and tactile interest, making it a charming handmade heirloom.
The Cross My Heart Baby Blanket was inspired by my original Pineapple of My Eye Baby Blanket design so if you love this blanket but want a self-striping version with a puff stitch you may want to check it out!

How to make a Crochet Cross Blanket
For the full written pattern instructions of the Cross My Heart Baby Blanket, scroll down below. You can purchase the ad-free PDF of this baby blanket for a small fee. Or, become a Lifetime Member and never pay for a PDF again!
1. The Cross My Heart crochet baby blanket is worked from the center-out as a square.
2. Using two colors throughout the blanket, I minimize the ends by carrying the non-working yarn throughout.
3. The popcorn stitch is made by working 4 double crochet stitches in the same stitch or space, removing the hook from the loop, inserting the hook into the top of the first dc stitch made of the cluster and then pulling the dropped loop through to complete the stitch – so easy!

4. The stitch pattern is easy to memorize – a one round repeat! My finished blanket is a baby blanket size at 35″ x 35″ square, but you could make this throw blanket to any size you wish simply by repeating rounds to the size desired!
5. The border is a lacy picot stitch variation which looks like a crown. The perfect finish!
6. I have a complete video tutorial to walk through each step of this crochet cross blanket.
I hope you enjoy making this beautiful heirloom quality crochet baby blanket!
