Pineapple of My Eye Mandala Square Baby Blanket Free Crochet Pattern

Jun 22, 2018 | Crochet patterns

The Pineapple of My Eye Square Baby Blanket is a free crochet pattern with Lion Brand Mandala self-striping yarn that I absolutely adore!  After using the pineapple cluster stitch and Lion Brand Mandala Baby yarn for the first time in my Spring Me Forward Triangle Scarf, I just knew that combination would look fantastic in a baby blanket — and it certainly does!  I can’t believe it has been almost a year since I released the Aurora Skies Baby Blanket — definitely time for a new baby blanket pattern!

Pineapple of My Eye Blanket so bright and cheerful in Lion Brand Mandala Baby!

Lion Brand Mandala Baby yarn is an absolute dream with this pattern!  The self striping cakes make this pattern super easy to work up and with just 2 (!) cakes you get this lovely beauty!  The lighter DK or size 3 weight yarn is a good match for the pineapple cluster stitch as well.  I just let the colors flow on this one and I think this pattern is a good one for disguising the yarn’s color changes.

Lion Brand Mandala Baby in Dreamworld is such a vibrant and bright colorway!

If you have used Lion Brand Mandala in the past, the Mandala Baby is very similar.  The only difference that I can tell is it feels a tad bit softer and less dense.  The Baby comes in 12 bright and happy color ways so you will be sure to find the perfect shade for your blanket!

This pattern is also available as an ad-free, printable PDF! You can purchase the individual pattern, or if you love PDFs, you might want to check out my Lifetime Membership. It’s an awesome deal! Never pay for one of my PDFs again!! (Or, scroll down for the free version!)

Pineapple of My Eye Baby Blanket edging

Double arches edging is pretty but so easy

The best part of this pattern — the main body of the blanket is a 1 row repeat!  No looking back at the pattern row after row on this one.  I honestly could make a hundred of these blankets and never get bored with it!

The flare of the pineapple stitch sections give the appearance of a cross as they flare out of the center of the blanket.

I have included a video stitch tutorial below for the pineapple stitch for those needing a little extra help.

The edge on this one is two rows of arches and it is so pretty on this blanket — the perfect frilly finish!
