The original crochet pumpkin bag features pumpkin colors orange and green.  I used 2 balls of Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn* in Hot Orange and just a small amount in Forest Green.

A simple and easy design, I just know this pumpkin crochet bag would make a lovely bag using any colors!

Love that cute little curly-q!

I did use a smaller hook than is recommended for the yarn as I wanted the bag to be somewhat close stitched.  The cotton yarn also gives the bag wonderful definition.  If you decide to use another type of yarn the holes on the side of the bag may not be as visible as they are with the cotton.

Easy one-row repeat on those sides still create that lovely slanted open stitch.

The great thing about this bag is the repetitive pattern!  Because the sides are made with hdc in a one-row repeat and the skipped stitches slant going up the sides of the bag as you are working on the right side of the stitch.  A wonderful side effect of this stitch!

The drawstring has a cute curly-q end in order to mimic a pumpkin but that could certainly be removed if desired.  But, if you would like to use this as a fashion bag, it could also be lined and the optional wrist strap added for carrying convenience!
