Crochet a Triangle Shawl | Fun Tassels & Lovely Texture!

Sep 10, 2024 | Crochet patterns

Crochet a triangle shawl with this simple and easy pattern!

This beautiful crochet triangle scarf is made with self-striping yarn and an easy repetitive stitch pattern!

This easy crochet triangle shawl pattern features solid stitches as well as a more open, airy mesh stitch with ridges for texture. This combination of dense and open stitches adds texture and dimension making it lightweight yet warm.

The triangular shape is worked from the top down. Suitable as a wrap for chilly evenings or as a stylish accessory for a casual outing. The stitch pattern is repetitive with enough variety to keep the pattern interesting. With basic crochet stitches it is perfect for an adventurous beginner or an advanced crocheter looking for a relaxing evening of crochet.

How to Crochet a Triangle Shawl

For the full written pattern instructions for this easy crochet shawl pattern, scroll down below. I have the ad-free PDF available for the So Long Summer Scarf in my shop. Or, become a Lifetime Member and never pay for a PDF again!

1. This crochet scarf is worked from the top down and starts with a Chain 4.

2. Begin working row 1 with double crochet stitches and a ch-2 corner space. The ch-2 will be the corner space every row.

3. Row 2 is a row of front post double crochet which will create a “ridge” of texture on the front or right side of the scarf. This ridge will always be on the same side of the scarf whether you are working a row of front or back post stitches. An easy way to check to make sure you haven’t skipped a row in the pattern!

4. Row 3 is a row of mesh or file – ch 1, skip a stitch, dc in the next. At the beginning there is a ch-4 which counts as the first dc + a ch-1 space and the last stitch is a (dc, ch 1, dc) all worked in the same st.

5. Row 4 is a row of double crochet stitches worked in each stitch and in each ch-1 space. Remember that there is a ch-1 space after your turning ch-3 at the beginning and a ch-1 sp in between the last two stitches of the row. These spaces can be easy to miss!

6. Row 5 is a row of back post dc stitches creating another “ridge”. Remember – all the ridges are on the same side!

Continue repeating that same stitch pattern throughout the remainder of your scarf – filet, dc, front or back post dc stitch rows.

Approximate finished size:  58” wingspan x 32” tall

Make any size – large or small!
