The Sea Turtle C2C Blanket is a free crochet pattern at Nana’s Crafty Home!
The Sea Turtle C2C Blanket is a fun sea turtle hatching scene – the sea turtles are hatching and making their way into the ocean.
I have always loved sea turtles – especially since our trip to Hawaii. Watching the sea turtles in the ocean waves was just so soothing. They are so graceful and beautiful!
I was asked by Happily Hooked Magazine* to provide a video master course on the C2C technique complete with accompanying patterns so those learning could put their newfound knowledge to work. And I was so honored and thrilled to be asked!

The Sea Turtle C2C Blanket was the final pattern in the series – a larger project that has many color changes and in which you will carry yarn colors as well.
If you have never worked a c2c (corner to corner) crochet project before and would like to learn how I have ALL the tutorials you need to master this wonderful technique:
Basic C2C tutorial
How to Change Colors in C2C
How to Carry Colors in C2C
How to Add a Border in C2C
How to Read Graphs in C2C
And, if you need help in learning how to make a C2C Crochet Rectangle shape I have a complete photo and video tutorial for you that will show you how to decrease on one side while continuing to increase on the other!
I made this throw blanket in the dc C2C technique for an approximate finished size of 33 1/2″ wide x 34″. If you made this with the mini-c2c (hdc) crochet technique your blanket would be smaller and you can learn more about that technique at the following:
I used Caron Simply Soft* yarn for this throw and I was especially pleased at the Tweeds Aran colorway for the sand. The darker flecks throughout the neutral sand color created the sand look I was going for. However, you could certainly substitute another color if you wish. I really enjoy working with Caron Simply Soft for its drape, softness and slight sheen – a true delight!
For the turtle’s eyes I embroidered in black yarn for each eye which worked out really well. You could also sew on small black buttons for the eyes if desired.
