I recently designed the Gnome Crochet Towel Topper and used a ring in order to make the towel hang freely inside the Gnome’s hat. This makes the towel removable for easy washing. I don’t know about you but I absolutely love that feature – no more clunking noise in the dryer and best of all the topper stays nice and new looking without running through the washer every few days. And, once the towel starts to look “not so new” you can easily replace with a brand new towel – perfect!

I wanted to take this ring to new towel toppers for each season and I am hoping to have several new patterns throughout this year. I thought a Heart Towel Topper would be perfect for St. Valentine’s Day. Works up quickly and looks so fantastic – you may want to display year round!

Also, you get a 2-for-1 pattern with this design – the front Heart panel would make a lovely potholder or dish cloth all on its own as well!

The Farmhouse Heart Towel Topper works up quickly made from two identical heart panels. The only thing different for the back panel is crocheting in the ring. The heart panels are then sewn together and a simple Single Crochet Spike Stitch is added in a contrasting color for the edging. This gives the Farmhouse Heart a rustic and charming appearance!

For the rings I did purchase mine from Amazon. I purchased a pack of 12 when I designed the Gnome Towel Topper and had several left over from that project. However, so many of you wanted to try something you could purchase inexpensively locally and came up with a wonderful idea – plastic shower hook holders! I purchased a pack of 12 from Walmart for only $.96 – what a fantastic idea!

I used Red Heart Super Saver* yarn for my design – a strong and durable worsted weight acrylic yarn. So many beautiful color options available and it will stand up well to a lot of use. However, you can use any yarn that you have on hand – a wonderful way to use of small amount of yarn!
