I have always been a big fan of the V-stitch and have used it in many other projects. This V-stitch variation utilizes a unique stitch placement to create a completely different look.

With a standard double crochet V-stitch, you would work the V-stitch in the ch 1 space from the previous row’s V-stitch. With this variation, you are skipping the first dc and ch 1 sp of the V-stitch from the previous row and working into the 2nd dc of the V-stitch group. This slight variation provides lovely drape and a more open stitch.

Supplies:

Knit Picks CotLin (70% Tanguis Cotton/30% Linen) Whisper colorway*

Clover Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook

ch(s) = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
RS = right side
st(s)= stitch(es)
sk = skip
V-st = v stitch (see special stitches section below)
WS = wrong side

Special Stitches:

V-st (v stitch): (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) worked in the same st.

To resize, pattern is worked in multiples of 3 + 2 for the foundation chain.

Sample shown is a foundation chain of 32.

Row 1:  (RS) Dc in fifth ch from hook (dc + skipped chs counts as one V-st), *sk 2 ch, V-st in next ch,* repeat from * to * to last 3 ch, sk 2 ch, 1 dc into last ch.  Turn. (9 V-sts, 1 dc)

Row 2:  ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch 1), 1 dc in same st (base of ch 4), *V-st into 2nd dc of next V-st,* repeat from * to * until 1 dc and turning ch remain, dc in third ch.  Turn.

Continue repeating row 2 to size desired.
