The Light Me Up Snowman Hat is a free crochet pattern for the most adorable snowman hat! So easy you will be able to make up him up in just a couple of hours!
Last year I designed the Light Me Up Christmas Tree Hat which was so much fun to design I couldn’t resist adding to the theme! I love everything snowman and so that seemed the perfect thing to do this year!
Keeping to the same yarns that I used last year, my hat is made with Lion Brand’s Homespun yarn** for the main body and small amounts of Red Heart Super Saver in black, red and orange for the brim, hat, scarf and nose. However, my testers didn’t all have ready access to Homespun and we found that any chunky white yarn you can get your hands on will be a good substitute!

The hat is sized to adult but can be easily resized to fit anyone — make one for the whole family!
Note about fit — I designed the hat to fit a little bit like a beret style hat. The brim is tight to the forehead and the snowman body kind of “blobs” over the brim. He almost looks like he is melting over the hat brim! However, if you would like to wear the hat body tight to the head you should make fewer rows of the snowman body or you will have to fold up the brim of the hat.
Also, one of my wonderful pattern tester’s sons said this hat would be perfect for a hair bun cover! Basically, if you didn’t stuff the snowman head, pulled the hat down tightly to fit the head and had a bun in your hair, it would fit into the snowman head! Such a cool idea!

I added fairy lights to my original Light Me Up Christmas Tree Hat and you could sure do the same here! I found some at Amazon that are perfect to add to any hat. Small and light enough that they don’t slide around and cause a headache while wearing! And you look so festive all lit up for Christmas!
