It has been a while since I designed and released my popular Boho Market Bag and thought I need a new summery bag in my life! I love cross body bags, too – so nice to be able to keep your hands free while hiking!
Love the look of this bag — this granny spike stitch is my newest love! So much fun and so colorful!
This stitch fills in the gaps you would traditionally have from a true granny stitch.
I also combined all three colors together for the bottom of the bag to help keep it from sagging out too much and give the bag some stability. You will need two different sized crochet hooks — a larger one for the bottom since all three colors are worked together and the smaller hook for the rest of the bag.
Bottom is made with all three strands of yarn worked together to give stability
The strap is customizable if you would like to have a shorter strap. Mine is large enough to cross over the body for the bag to be worn hands free either in front or on your back.
I Love This Cotton! is one of my favorite choices for 100% cotton yarn. So soft and so many vibrant colors to choose from — so many color possibilities for your bag! I had a hard time choosing mine!

Notes about pattern: the granny spike stitch is worked in multiples of 4 so if you would like to resize your bag, you will need to start row 13 with a stitch count in multiples of 4.
The three double crochet stitches worked in the granny spike stitch are referred to as clusters throughout the pattern.
Ch 3 counts as first st at beginning of row.
