Make a quick crochet dish scrubber with this free crochet pattern and tutorial!
If you’re like me and always on the lookout for ways to make your home more eco-friendly without sacrificing functionality, these handmade crochet pot scrubbers are a game-changer!
Made from a durable nylon yarn with a bit of scrub action provided with a sparkle, making them not just practical but also a little bit fun to use. What I love most about these scrubbers is how they’re made – entirely in the round using only half double crochet stitches. That means they’re whipped up in one continuous piece with absolutely no sewing required! No fussing with seams or assembly; just pure, efficient crocheting that results in a sturdy, spiral-shaped design. The tight stitches create a textured surface that’s tough on stuck-on grime but gentle on your pots and pans, replacing those disposable plastic sponges that end up in landfills.
These little wonders are about the size of a coaster, fitting perfectly in your hand for easy scrubbing.
Whether you’re looking for a quick project or stocking up your Etsy shop, this pattern is so easy and quick. From start to finish I can make one of these little scrubbies in less than 10 minutes!
I’ve been using mine for weeks, and they’re holding up beautifully – machine washable, quick-drying, and ready for action. If you’re ready to ditch the disposables, grab your hook and give these a go!

1. These dish scrubbies are made in-the-round with all half double crochet stitches!
2. Start with a magic circle or alternatively a ch 4 then slip stitch in first chain to form a ring. Work round 1 in the magic circle or the ring.
3. Begin by working rounds of half double crochet stitches.
4. After round 1 all the stitches are worked in the third loop of the previous round’s half dc stitch which creates a knit-like ridge at the top of each round.
5. Once you stop increasing your work will start to round and create a bowl-like shape.
6. Begin decreasing rounds until the end.
7. Once complete you will simply weave in your ends and close the hole left from the last round.
So easy and quick – no sewing!
I have a complete video tutorial to help if you need some visual help.
I hope you enjoy these little crochet dish scrubbers!

I searched high and low until I found the scrubbie yarn I was looking for and I finally found Jubilee Yarn’s Spongy on Amazon which is a bulky weight nylon yarn with a bit of scrubby action. I am able to make 2 scrubbers from each skein which makes these so economical!
I am not a big fan of the more traditional scrubby yarn that is more readily available in box stores – the texture is so scratchy to work with and difficult to find your stitches when you are working with it. And it is impossible to rip out!
There is a bit of scratchy with this yarn but my hands handled it well and I didn’t mind it at all!
And it has beautiful stitch definition, too!

If you are looking for a way to use up a stash of that traditional scrubby yarn I would recommend using cotton yarn + scrubby yarn held together. Simply hold both strands together as you work the pattern! I have so much cotton and scrubby yarn on hand I thought I would try it out and I love how they turned out! I honestly cannot stop making this little scrubbie! I think these would be great skin exfoliators as well.
