How to Make the Crochet Flower Coaster Basket Set

1. Begin by making four Flower Power Motifs in the smallest size. I used a solid color for the center circle of the flower and then a variegated yarn for the petals. I have a step-by-step video tutorial for the motif I used for this pattern that will walk you through the coaster portion of the pattern.

2. Once you have the four coasters made you will make the simple basket. The basket is worked with rounds of double crochet stitches with some increases to create a bowl shape.

3. The final round of the basket is finished with an edging of the Crab Stitch aka the Reverse Single Crochet Stitch.

4. To assemble your blooming flower basket, simply stack the coasters inside the basket with the petals coming up the sides of the basket to create a bud-like effect.

5. All done! A simple and functional addition to your home decor!

These crochet coasters can be made with cotton or acrylic yarn. I typically would recommend a cotton yarn for coasters due to the moisture wicking properties of cotton over acrylic.

ch(s) = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
RS = right side
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
rsc = reverse single crochet (see special stitches below)
sk = skip
yo = yarn over

Special Stitches:

rsc = Working from left to right, sk first st, insert hook from front to back in next st to the right, yo, pull loop through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook.

Coaster (make 4)

With Color A, make MC.

Round 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as a st here and throughout), 11 dc in MC, join with sl st in top of ch-3 and tighten ring. (12)

Round 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, change to Color B with sl st in top of ch-3. (24)

Round 3: Ch 13, sl st in same st as join (base of chains just made), *sl st in next 3 sts, (sl st, ch 13, sl st in same st),* repeat from * to * to last 3 chs, sl st in next 2 sts (leaving last st unworked). (6 petals)

Round 4: *Working in chs for petal, dc in next 4 chs, 2 dc in next 5 chs, dc in next 4 chs, now working into sl sts from round 3, sk next st, sl st in next st, sk next st,* repeat from * to * around, sl st to first dc of first petal.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Basket

With Color A, make MC.

Round 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as a st here and throughout), 11 dc in MC, join with sl st in top of ch-3 and tighten ring. (12)
