Simple Sparkle Scarf Free Crochet Pattern Beginner Friendly!

Aug 18, 2018 | Beginner Crochet Patterns, Crochet patterns

The Simple Sparkle Scarf is a beginner friendly free crochet pattern!  Last November I released the Curly Cute Cowl and received many requests to also have the pattern with a “no-curly” option.  This scarf is the no-curly modification to that fun pattern!

So easy yet still so sophisticated proving you don’t have to complicate things to have an amazing finished project!  Really beginner friendly — you only need to know how to chain and double crochet!  I will also be providing a complete video tutorial geared towards beginning crocheters so everyone can make this scarf!

I adore Lion Brand Mandala* and recently Lion Brand released the Lion Brand Mandala Sparkle line. Basically Mandala with a metallic thread running through it as the DK weight (3) is the same!  Just a little bit of added bling to take it to the next level!  The cakes are a little shorter in yardage than the original Mandala cakes — 328 yards compared to 590 so you will need 2 cakes to complete this project.  However, if you have original Mandala on hand instead of the Sparkle this is a one cake project!

This scarf is made as one large rectangle and the ends are then sewn together to make the scarf.  Since this is a good-sized scarf there is a lot of versatility in how you can then wear it.  It is large enough to wear as a hood, doubled up around the neck, down around the shoulders for a sophisticated look or long in the front — so many options!

Since I never like to waste yarn I used the whole of the two cakes but you could certainly make this scarf a little smaller if you would so choose.  If you would like it shorter, decrease the number of beginning chains. If you would like to have it a little less wide, don’t use the entire second cake of yarn.

The Simple Sparkle Scarf is long enough to wear over your head as a hood!

Worked in the back loops only which gives a really nice texture to the piece — I love how this simple scarf looks and I think you will, too!

Long enough to wrap twice to be worn under your coat and so warm!
