Gingerbread House Tissue Box Cover free crochet pattern

Earlier this year I designed the Gnome Tissue Box Cover as a free crochet pattern and it was such a hit I wanted to add a new spin on that idea. The Gingerbread House Tissue cover works up so quickly and easily – the perfect way to add a touch of fun and whimsy to your Christmas Holiday home decor!

The Gingerbread House is basically the same as the Gnome pattern, I just added a fun roof edging, chimney and door to the main box cover. The chimney is centered over the tissue opening at the top of the house so that the tissue coming out looks like smoke. So cute!

I debated about crocheting up little embellishments to add to the house but I found some really cute foam sticker embellishments at Joann’s that were perfect. And, the best part is that you can completely customize your own gingerbread house any way you want! Want a snowman themed one? Hey, it’s your house! 😉

Or, even better, crochet the house and make a sticker kit for the little ones in your life and let them decorate their very own! You might be surprised at how much they would love a tissue box cover in their room. My grandson saw my Gnome tissue box cover and said, “Nana, I love him and I really need one of those in my room!” Needless to say, my gnome will be finding a new home soon. 😉

I used my favorite go-to economical yarn, Red Heart’s With Love yarn* which is a medium #4 weight acrylic. However, you could certainly substitute your favorite yarn in its place. Just make sure at various points of the pattern you make sure it will fit your tissue box – the top of the cover before starting the sides as well as making sure the length of the sides cover the whole tissue box.
