1. The foundation chain along with yarn weight and hook size will determine the finished size of your rectangle blanket. I have a complete tutorial to show you how to determine the chain length for the finished blanket size you are aiming for. The photos in this post show the baby blanket size of approximately 32″ x 37″. The free pattern instructions includes resize instructions for 4 different sizes: baby, lapghan, twin & queen sizes.

2. For this stitch pattern you can adjust your foundation chain with any number of chains – no multiples needed for this all double crochet blanket.

3. Once you have determined your chain length and chained the necessary number of foundation chains, work a row of single crochet stitches. Place a stitch marker in the space between the first sc of the row and the skipped chains. This stitch marker is marking the space where you will work your corners on one end of the rectangle.

4. Once you have worked a row of single crochet, turn. The remainder of the blanket will be worked in non-turning rounds.

5. The beginning ch-3 will count as a stitch at the beginning of each round. In the same stitch work your first corner.

6. Then work a double crochet stitch in each st. Do not miss the last sc stitch from the previous round! Then work two corners in the space marked by the stitch marker.

DC All Day Rectangle Blanket row 2 corner process

7. Begin working in unused loops from the foundation chain and work a dc st in each loop to end.

8. In last loop work the final corner, then slip stitch in top of ch-3 from beginning to finish the round.

9. If you have adjusted the foundation chain to another number of chains and you need to figure the stitch count after this round you will subract 2 from foundation ch for the stitch count for row 1, then double that number and add 12 for the stitch count for round 2.

For example, i you chained 25: After row 1 25-2 = 23. Round 2 = 23+23+12 = 58.

The remaining rounds will each increase by a total of 16 stitches from the previous round.

10: This rectangle blanket is an easy to memorize one-round repeat!

I have a complete video tutorial for this easy crochet rectangle blanket and I will walk you through each step including how to change colors for a round or how to continue in the same color if not changing colors.

I added tassels on each of the corners for a classic and elegant touch.

I hope you enjoy making this rectangle crochet blanket!
