Christmas Tree C2C Advent Calendar free crochet pattern

Nov 7, 2020 | Crochet patterns

The Christmas Tree C2C Advent Calendar is a free crochet pattern by Nana’s Crafty Home!

Can you believe that we are in November already?? It seems like this year has really been flying by – I may just refer to 2020 as “The Lost Year”. Can anyone else relate?? ?

Well, if you are anxious to start decorating for Christmas and getting the kids in the mood – this pattern will be a sure hit!

I know my grandkids love Advent Calendars and I mean who wouldn’t love a special treat every day? Something to look forward to every day. However, instead of candy you could even include slips of paper with a fun family activity like a movie night or roasting marshmallows together. You could really make this a shared family Advent Calendar!

This Christmas Tree C2C Advent Calendar works up pretty quickly and it is a great way to use up any scrap yarn you have for the stars. I only used 4 colors for my 24 stars but you could certainly use 24 different colors if you wanted to!

If you are new to the corner to corner (c2c) crochet technique, I have all the video and photo tutorials you need to get started:

Basic C2C Stitch Tutorial
How to Change Colors in C2C
How to Carry Colors in C2C
How to add a Border in C2C

And, if you need help in learning how to make a C2C Crochet Rectangle shape I have a complete photo and video tutorial for you that will show you how to decrease on one side while continuing to increase on the other!

I wanted a smaller wall hanging so I decided to work my graph in the mini c2c or hdc technique. I have a video for that as well. My panel ended up being approximately 18.5″ wide x 28.5″ tall. That would make a pretty good size for a pillow. However, if you wanted to make this graph into a smaller blanket, just use the standard double crochet c2c technique to make the graph larger.

And, if you want to make the same border as mine, I have a tutorial for the Candy Cane Border. However, I only used 2 colors for the border and I am showing 3 colors in my video. The only difference is that you would ch 4 instead of 5 for each color. Other than that, the stitch is the same.

You are certainly welcome to use any star crochet pattern you wish – and there are a lot of crochet patterns for stars out there – but I used my own c2c star pattern. The Star C2C pattern uses the corner to corner technique to create a quick and easy star which is the perfect size for this graph as well as give the stars the same overall same look as the panel.

You could certainly choose to embroider the numbers on your stars but I found some inexpensive adhesive numbers from Amazon. They won’t stay “stuck on” from year to year but you could just put new ones on next year if you wanted to.

For hanging, I used a wooden dowel cut to length and then crocheted tabs that made a holder for the dowel. I am just hanging the dowel on a hook so I didn’t use a hanger on my dowel but you could either crochet one or find another hanging option.

I used my go-to economical choice for soft acrylic yarn – Red Heart’s With Love* which has lots of colors to choose from. Sturdy yet soft – perfect choice for this panel!
